Match preview

15th play hosts to 14th in Serie A on Monday night as the Briantaeo Stadium looks to see its third win of the season when Monza meet with Bologna.

Monza have just three wins on the board in Serie A this season, and two of these have come at home. The club beat Juventus 2-0 just before the international break in September as Christian Gykjaer scored in the 74th minute for the club’s first win. Spezia then tried to outclass Monza, but the newly-promoted side rallied for a 2-0 win with a goal in either half. Monza have also beaten Sampdoria on the road in a 3-0 win.

This run does also mean all three victories have come with a clean sheet, which does read well for them against a Bologna side with just 12 goals in 11 league games. On the other hand, the 14th-placed side have seen Marko Arnautovic net seven league goals in Serie A, meaning the Austrian has now scored more than half of his club’s goals in Serie A this season.

Bologna have only just moved above Monza in the table too, beating Lecce 2-0 last weekend. This also came off the back of defeating Cagliari in the Coppa Italia, meaning the first two-game winning run for the club. Arnautovic also scored from the penalty spot in the win over Lecce.

It’s set to be one of the biggest games of the season for both teams, with there a huge possibility of a push into the relegation zone if they lose here.
