The winless Monza are set to continue their brutal start to life in Serie A with them facing another almighty test in the form of the vengeful Juventus who are coming into this one after controversy in the last game against Salernitana.
The scenes in Turin last time out for the serial winners of Serie A were something like we have not seen before in the Italian top flight. Salernitana stunningly went 2-0 up at the Juventus Stadium, before Leonardo Bonucci snatched an equaliser in the 93rd minute. However, it was the scenes deeper into stoppage time that got the continent gripped to this game.
Arkadiusz Milik looked like he stole all three points in stunning style in the 96th minute, but his goal was later denied through a controversial VAR call. The forward was then sent off for his response to the call, while Juan Cuadrado also got his marching orders for the same reaction. In another world, a 2-2 comeback draw from 2-0 down would be commendable, but for Juventus at home and in the circumstances in the end, it was yet another dismal result for the Old Lady.
Worse yet, Juventus lost in midweek in the Champions League too, which now means two games and two losses for the club in Europe. Benfica did the job on them this time around, as Milik did get a legitimate goal this, but it meant nothing in a 2-1 loss.
Monza remain winless in their start to life in Serie A, and with them only drawing one game and losing the other five, the newly-promoted side sit bottom of the table in the top flight with 14 goals conceded. Against a Juventus side looking to return to the win column, it’s not likely Monza will get their first-ever Serie A win.
