Hellas Verona are in desperate need of all three points when they head to the Brianteo Stadium this weekend to meet with a Monza side now up into 15th after a few wins under their belts in what has been a struggle for them in 2022/23.
Despite beating Spezia at the start of October 2-0, shortly after defeating Sampdoria 3-0 away from home, the club head into this one off the back of three Serie A defeats in a row. They have, however, proved their worth at points in the season, beating Juventus as well before the last international break – all three wins came in a row and with a clean sheet too.
Monza have lost to Empoli, AC Milan and Bologna in recent games, although they did get at least a goal in the losses to Bologna and Milan in the past two weeks. Impressively, however, Monza defeated Udinese in the Coppa Italia second round just under a month ago, beating the eighth-placed Serie A side 3-2 away from home.
As for Verona, they still have only one win on the board and have the worst defensive record in the league with 24 goals conceded. Worse yet, they have also only scored 11 goals so far this season, losing nine times too – no side have lost more games across Europe’s top five leagues.
