Match Preview

Napoli will look to remain top of Serie A after four games when they welcome Lecce to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium this Wednesday evening as Lecce come to town in search of their first win of the season.

It’s been a struggle so far for Lecce in what has is their first season back in Serie A after two years in Serie B. Currently, the club are winless from three games, having lost twice and drawn once with four goals being conceded by this stage. Gabriel Strefezza scored against Empoli in the recent 1-1 draw with the Brazilian bagging an equaliser just before the end of the first half. Samuel Umtiti missed the game, and he could get his debut in this one.

Lecce have also lost to Sassuolo and Inter Milan so far this season, but in the home match with Inter, they were unfortunate not to get a draw after Assan Ceesay scored an equaliser before Denzel Dumfries scored the winning goal.

Napoli, however, are unbeaten, but off the back of drawing 0-0 with Fiorentina, their stunning goals record has come to a halt slightly. Luciano Spalletti’s men hammered Hellas Verona away from home 5-2 in the league on the opening weekend, before his side eased past Monza with a 4-0 victory on home soil.

The draw with Fiorentina leaves them top on goals difference, as champions AC Milan sit right behind them ahead of this gameweek. Napoli should get the job done here, however, with the club still in unbeaten form.
