Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has, on Saturday evening, provided a brief insight into the situation of defender Raphael Varane.
The name of French international Varane has, of course, taken its place centre stage in the headlines tonight.
This comes after the former Real Madrid man was forced to limp out of United’s Premier League showdown with Chelsea, owing to a muscular concern.
The issue was made all the more alarming by Varane’s reaction, with the 29-year-old having been left visibly distressed at the prospect of a potentially extended spell on the sidelines.

This comes with France set to kick the defence of the country’s World Cup crown into gear exactly a month from today.
Speaking on the back of the action – which saw Man United snatch a last-gasp point courtesy of a wonderful Casemiro header – coming to a close on Saturday, it therefore came as little surprise when Erik ten Hag was drawn on Varane’s wellbeing.
“I think he’s calmed down,” Ten Hag began. “He has to wait to see what it [injury] is. He can’t tell, the medical staff can’t tell, we have to wait for the assessments and that takes time, minimum 24 hours.”
🗣 “It’s not possible, he feels a certain perspective.”
