Roma will be hoping to end up in the top four ahead of the break for the World Cup until January with Jose Mourinho’s men down into sixth after a recent winless run ahead of playing hosts to Torino down in ninth at the Stadio Olimpico.
Although it hasn’t been a bad season for Roma, Mourinho will be far from pleased with what he has seen. The ex-Chelsea manager will be happy at how Tammy Abraham returned to the scoresheet in the game against Sassuolo, but with them getting just a draw in that game, they remain behind Inter Milan, Lazio and Atalanta in the race for the Champions League and sit sixth.
Worse yet for the club, they lost in the Rome derby to rivals Lazio last weekend too, and with a defeat to Napoli three weeks back, Roma only have a 3-1 victory over 20th-placed Hellas Verona and a narrow win over 19th-placed Sampdoria to boast about in the past month. On the other hand, with Inter and Atalanta meeting one another in Bergamo this weekend too, Mourinho’s side do have a chance to jump into the top four if results go their way.
As for Torino, they racked up another comfortable win in midweek with a 2-0 victory over Sampdoria, as Nikola Vlasic got amongst the goals once again. Off the back off beating AC Milan and Udinese 2-1, it does mean the club have only lost go Bologna 2-1 and Juventus 1-0 in the past month.
