Erik ten Hag has refused to rule out a move for Paris Saint Germain attacker Neymar this summer, dodging the question when asked about the player amid links with an Old Trafford switch.

The Brazilian, who has missed the last three months of football with an ankle injury, has been linked with a move away from the Parc des Princes once again this summer, amid reports of major change in the French capital.

He and teammate Lionel Messi could both leave as part of a squad overhaul following yet another disappointing Champions League showing, where they exited limply at the hands of Bayern Munich in the first knockout round.

Contracted until 2025, the pool of clubs that could pull off the signing of Neymar is very small, but recent reports have suggested that Manchester United are one of the clubs showing an interest as potential new owners look to make a splash in the Premier League should a takeover ultimately go through.

French outlet L’Equipe claimed that ‘discussions have been initiated with Premier League clubs, and in particular Manchester United’, though these were later denied by other sources.

But, when posed the question, Ten Hag refused to rule out a move for the 31-year-old, simply claiming that “When we have news… we will tell you” when quizzed on a potential deal.

They have plenty of other transfer priorities too, with Harry Kane and a midfielder high up on their wishlist as well as potentially another right-back and goalkeeper.

Should a takeover loosen the purse strings, however, a move for Neymar could be one to keep an eye on this summer.
