Match preview

Both the Saints go marching into McDiarmid Park for this crucial Premiership clash.

Of the two, St Johnstone’s need for points is far more urgent, given that they’ve now lost three in a row.

They looked like leaving Tynecastle with a credible draw on Sunday, Graham Carey and Andrew Considine scoring, only for Hearts to win it with a late penalty.

Before this, the Saints had been hammered by Rangers and then edged out by Aberdeen, meaning they still have just three points on the board.

St Mirren in contrast are flying high, sat sixth in the table, having won three on the bounce.

Last weekend, Keanu Baccus was the only scorer as the Buddies beat Hibs 1-0 at the SMISA Stadium.

So, St Mirren are looking to win four successive Premiership games for the first time since December 2008.

St Johnstone haven’t lost four such outings in succession since January this year, so slightly more recently.

Will both of those statistics change in Perth?
