Match preview
Two of Serie A’s most in-form sides are set to lock horns at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday, October 16th.
The clash at hand will see capital giants Lazio play host to high-flying Udinese.
Starting with the former, Lazio have looked absolutely superb at both ends of the pitch over recent weeks. Since a 2-1 defeat at the hands of table-topping Napoli early in September, Maurizio Sarri’s troops have rattled off a quartet of successive victories.
Even more impressive, though, has been the manner in which such wins have come.
The latest of these triumphs came in Florence last weekend, when Matias Vecino, Mattia Zaccagni, Luis Albero and Ciro Immobile saw the visitors emerge on the right side of a head-turning 4-0 result.
Lazio, in turn, have climbed to 3rd in Italy’s top-flight, with long-time star hitman Immobile leading the way in the goalscoring charts, too.

Sarri’s men, though, will not have it easy this weekend.
Upcoming opponents Udinese have proven the surprise package of the Serie A season to date, locked on points with Lazio in 3rd.
After stuttering to another bottom half finish in 2021/22, the Friulani have since exploded out of the gates this time round, recovering from a shaky start to, remarkably, piece together a run of six wins from six between late August and early October.
This stretch included, most notably, a 4-0 drubbing of Jose Mourinho’s Roma, 3-1 downing of Inter Milan and, in their return to action post-international break, a 2-1 triumph at Hellas Verona.
Andrea Sottil’s troops did see their remarkable win streak brought to an end last time out, but even this came owing to a commendable 2-2 stalemate with fellow high-flyers Atalanta.
The safe bet for Sunday’s Olimpico clash may therefore be to back a draw between Lazio and Udinese.
Despite the fine form of the latter, though, we at 101 envision Sarri’s hosts ultimately getting the job done, to make it five victories on the spin, and pile the pressure on early Serie A leaders Napoli.
