Europa League quarter-final & semi-final draw: West Ham & Barcelona could meet for first time

The draws for the Europa League quarter-finals took place on Friday afternoon.

West Ham have made it to the quarter-finals of the competition for the first time in their history.

The Hammers took on Europa League specialists Sevilla in the Round of 16, going 1-0 down in the first leg. However, David Moyes’ side fought back valiantly and came away with a 2-0 win after extra time in the reverse fixture.


Elsewhere, Rangers booked their spot in the last eight by beating Red Star Belgrade on aggregate and FC Barcelona saw off Galatasaray.

The rest of the quarter-final draw consisted of Lyon, Eintracht Frankfurt, Braga, Atalanta and RB Leipzig.

FC Barcelona have been handed a fairly easy quarter-final tie in Eintracht Frankfurt. As for the British sides, Rangers will face Braga and West Ham taken on Lyon. Elsewhere, RB Leipzig were drawn against Atalanta.

And a potential dream match for West Ham is on the cards as they will face the winner of Barcelona’s quarter-final in the semis.

When will the Europa League quarter-final, semi-finals and final take place?

The two-legged quarter-finals will take place on April 7th and 14th with the semi-finals playing out on April 28th and May 5th.

The final, which is in Sevilla’s Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium, is on Wednesday, May 18th.
