Match preview

Sampdoria are still in the relegation zone ahead of a trip to Turin where Torino are in the top half after a recent winning run came to an end with the Maroons set to remain in the top 10 before the World Cup break if they can win here.

A victory for Torino would not guarantee top half status for them ahead of the break until January, but with the poor form of those below them, they are likely to end up in the top half of the division with another three points here.

Currently, they are only a point ahead of Fiorentina in 11th, but they are struggling for form and the Turin side have recently beaten the champions AC Milan and the impressive Udinese, both by 2-1 scorelines. On the other hand, the club fell back into the losing column when Bologna beat them 2-1, but they still sit with an impressive 16 goals conceded.

Sampdoria remain in the relegation zone ahead of this one, and despite having a victory on their books, they sit with just six goals scored in the league so far and no side across Europe’s top five divisions have netted fewer. Even with Cremonese failing to win a game, they sit ahead of the Genoa side because of such a dreadful goals difference record.
