It is being reported that up to 12 players could leave Arsenal during the 2022 summer transfer window, either on loan or on a permanent basis.

The report comes from football.london who explain why each of the 12 players could be set to leave.

Firstly, Matteo Guendouzi and Konstantinos Mavropanos are expected to officially join Marseille and Stuttgart respectively in July following successful loan spells this season.

Elsewhere, Arsenal are planning for life without Bernd Leno, whilst Alex Runarsson’s future is also unclear amid a deal for New England shot-stopper, Matt Turner.

Hector Bellerin and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are also expected to depart permanently in 2022, whilst Auston Trusty will be going back out on loan.

FL add that Lucas Torreira is expected to join Fiorentina permanently, a Pablo Mari exit could be on the cards, Cedric Soares’ future could be dependent on whether Arsenal manage to bring in a right-back and a decision has to be made regarding Granit Xhaka.

The key areas Arsenal must target

With so many potential exits on the cards, Arsenal will surely need to bring in at least two players to prop up what is already a fairly small squad.

The two main areas Arsenal need to improve in are centre-forward and central midfield.

The Gunners are, as mentioned above, currently set to lose Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah for nothing this summer, meaning they would be without a senior no.9.

And in central midfield, given Partey’s injury woes, Xhaka’s discipline issues and Elney’s likely exit, another experienced midfielder will be needed, especially if Arsenal are playing European football next term.
