Everton’s last-gasp Premier League survival on Sunday saw the Toffees etch their name ever further into the history books of English football.

Sean Dyche’s troops, of course, marked their return to action a short time ago.

Amid ongoing efforts to stave off relegation to The Championship, Everton welcomed Bournemouth to Goodison Park, in the knowledge that an eventual victory would guarantee their top-flight status for another season.

And, when all was said and done, emerge triumphant, just, is what the Merseysiders went on to do.

Abdoulaye Doucoure proved himself the hero on the day, notching the only goal of the game just shy of the hour mark.

Everton, in turn, pipped Leicester City to safety, despite the Foxes’ downing of West Ham United.

As revealed in the aftermath of Sunday’s action, Everton remain one of just six clubs – alongside Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea – to have never been relegated from the Premier League.

Not only that, but the Merseyside outfit, at 69 seasons, trail only Arsenal for consecutive terms in England’s top-flight.
