Everton are set to benefit financially from Premier League rivals’ Manchester City’s Champions League title, it has been revealed.

Pep Guardiola’s City, of course, finally saw their long-standing European dreams realised a little under 24 hours ago.

This came as a solitary strike on the part of midfielder Rodri proved enough to guide the Sky Blues beyond Italian giants Inter Milan, in the finale of the Champions League.

With league and FA Cup medals already in the bag, Guardiola and co, in turn, rounded out a memorable campaign with a historic treble.

As alluded to above, though, City themselves are not the only English club set to benefit from their downing of Inter on Saturday.

So too, it has been revealed, will Everton.

As per a report from the Echo, as part of the agreement which sent Stones to The Etihad back in 2016, the board at Goodison Park negotiated a Champions League winners’ clause.

Everton, as a result, are in line for a not-inconsiderable cash windfall in the region of £2.5 million.
