Arsenal are not in the race to sign Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister this summer, despite needing reinforcements in midfield, according to reports.
Instead, three of their Premier League rivals will fight it out for the Argentine’s signature this summer, with Mac Allister set to leave the South Coast.
As per the reliable Fabrizio Romano, all of Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United have approached the player to discuss a potential move, though it remains unclear the level of appeal each club will have.
Having made 25 appearances for the Seagulls this season, Mac Allister has impressed alongside fellow midfield target Moises Caicedo as the pair have helped Brighton push for European football under Roberto De Zerbi this season.
As it stands, Brighton sit above both Liverpool and Chelsea, meaning that any departure would rob Mac Allister of any chance to play in Europe next season, while his current side have a strong chance of featuring in the Europa League should their form persist.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are set for Champions League football, but their takeover has complicated matters and now it is unclear just what sort of shape the club will be in come the summer.
“We are just starting talks in general, but it is most likely Alexis will be playing for another team next July”, he told Argentinian news.
The World Cup winner is not set to be the only midfielder on the move this summer, with the aformentioned Caicedo, Jude Bellingham, Declan Rice and Mason Mount among those set to be on the market, which could have a significant impact on Mac Allister’s future.
