Arsenal loan watch week 3: Balogun, Tavares, John-Jules and more

Folarin Balogun (Stade de Reims)

Folarin Balogun scored for the third successive game for his loan club Stade de Reims, becoming the first man to do so since 1975 in the process, since Jacques Vergnes did the same for the club.

He had also scored earlier in the game, but it was ruled out for offside. It is turning into a very good loan spell for the youngster.

Tyreece John-Jules (Ipswich Town)

Not to be outshone, Tyreece John-Jules got his Ipswich Town stint up and running as he opened the scoring for the Tractor Boys against Shrewsbury Town. John-Jules played 74 minutes in their 3-0 win.

Nuno Tavares (Marseille)

Arthur Okonkwo (Crewe Alexandre)

Okonkwo starred for Crewe Alexandre as they beat Sutton United 1-0 in midweek, making 6 saves as he kept a clean sheet. He was less impressive in their 2-2 draw to Northampton Town in his most recent outing, however, conceding twice and managing just two saves.

Auston Trusty (Birmingham City)

Like Okonkwo, Trusty played in midweek as Birmingham were held to a 1-1 draw by Watford. He also managed 90 minutes at the weekend too, but could not prevent the Blues from falling to a 1-0 defeat to 10 man Wigan Athletic.

Mazeed Ogungbo (Crawley Town)

Mazeed Ogungbo and Crawley had a tough week as they fell to successive defeats. Ogungbo started and played 90 minutes in both encounters, but could not stop them losing 2-0 to AFC Wimbledon and 3-2 to Northampton Town respectively.

The results leave Crawley in 23rd place in League Two, having managed just 1 point from their opening 5 games, and an early relegation candidate.

Marcelo Flores (Real Oviedo)

Flores was handed his first start for Real Oviedo, and impressed as he helped them to a 1-0 win over Leganes. Flores managed 75 minutes before he was substituted.

Ryan Alebiosu (Kilmarnock)

Alebiosu played 90 minutes at right wing-back for Kilmarnock, but could not stop the Scottish side from falling to a 1-0 defeat to Ross County, completing 0 of his 4 dribbles and winning just 1 of his 5 duels.

Alex Kirk (Ayr United)

Kirk was restored to the heart of the Ayr defence after missing out last week, playing 90 minutes as they beat Cove Rangers 2-1.

Unused/not in squad

Omar Rekik (Sparta Rotterdam)

Rekik was an unused substitute as Sparta Rotterdam lost to Ajax by a 1-0 scoreline.

Mika Biereth (RKC Waalwijk)

Biereth was not part of the Waalwijk squad for their 1-0 defeat to Feyenoord.

Ovie Ejeheri (Chelmsford City)

Ejeheri played 90 minutes for Chelmsford as they beat Weymouth 3-1, taking them up to fourth in the National League South.

Injured

Harry Clarke (Stoke City)

Clarke continues to be sidelined with a shin injury picked up ahead of last week’s fixtures. On August 13th, the Stoke City boss explained: “Harry’s got a shin injury and will take a period of rest. We’re not sure how long that will be as yet but I shouldn’t imagine we’ll see him for a number of weeks.”

Charlie Patino (Blackpool)

Charlie Patino is facing a month on the sidelines after turning his ankle while in midweek action for Blackpool.

“There’s slightly better news on Charlie than I first feared if I’m being honest, but it’s still going to be potentially four weeks”, Tangerine’s boss Michael Appleton explained.
