Relegation-threatened Everton is hopeful of a fresh start to life in the 2022-23 Premier League season after the Toffees earned a vital three points during Sean Dyche’s debut in the Goodison Park technical area while presiding over a 1-0 win against league leaders Arsenal last weekend.

The hopeful managerial bounce was as good as even the staunchest club supporter could have dreamed of after Everton looked like a side reborn during their three-point haul on Merseyside, but this weekend is a whole other kettle of fish when they cross Stanley Park to take on bitter rivals Liverpool in the 242nd Merseyside Derby against a Reds outfit that have taken a nose dive this season under Jürgen Klopp, with the dreaded seven-year cycle of the German once again coming under the microscope.

Though Dyche is empathetic about the situation at Anfield, Everton’s survival in the top flight of English football is at stake on Monday night as the club looks to end Liverpool’s dominance in the city in recent years while hopefully climbing out of the bottom three.

Predicted Everton XI

Everton Team News

  • Out: Nathan Patterson, James Garner, Andros Townsend
  • Doubt: Michael Keane, Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Sean Dyche has just one additional selection headache to possibly contend with after headline striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin picked up a knock in the win against Arsenal last weekend and faces a race against time to be fit and available. Former Brighton forward Neal Maupay will stand in his stead should he be unavailable.

Apart from that, the Toffees are sure to still be without the services of Nathan Patterson, Andros Townsend, and James Garner, though Michael Keane may pass fit enough to make it to the bench on Monday night.
