An official investigation has been opened, regarding an on-pitch incident which culminated in proceedings being brought to a standstill during the Premier League meeting between Arsenal and Liverpool earlier today.
A thrilling 90 minutes of action, of course, played out at the Emirates a short time ago.
As two of English football’s biggest clubs faced off once more, it was hosts Arsenal who ultimately emerged triumphant, courtesy of a 3-2 final scoreline.
Bukayo Saka proved the star of the show for the hosts, notching a brace to add to Gabriel Martinelli’s opener inside the opening 60 seconds.

Sunday’s action in north London, though, was not without its controversies.
After Liverpool were denied a penalty at one end, Arsenal’s winning goal came courtesy of a highly questionable spot-kick decision going in their favour at the other.
FT: Arsenal 3 #LFC 2: Liverpool’s miserable PL season continues. Controversy at the Emirates given Gabriel’s handball went unpunished and Saka’s winning penalty was very soft but Klopp’s men so vulnerable yet again. Just two wins out of eight and 10pts out of a possible 24.

As confirmed by the English Football Association, an investigation has been opened into the situation which culminated in referee Michael Oliver halting proceedings, to make his way to the touchline for a discussion with both Mikel Arteta and Jurgen Klopp.
As per an official FA statement:
“We are aware of an incident that took place during the match between Arsenal and Liverpool. We are in dialogue with the match officials and will review the details of the incident.”
