As per The Athletic, the FA have opened an investigation into a video which showed Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk using the N-word in a TikTok video.

Mudryk posted the now-deleted video in July, 2022. Mudryk was reciting a 2017 freestyle rap by American artist Lil Baby which contained the N-word.

Mudryk’s representatives issued an apology after the video emerged on Monday night:

“Mykhailo is deeply sorry for any offence caused,” Mudryk’s representative said in a statement.

“While his intention was solely to recite lyrics of a song, Mykhailo regrets his decision and wholeheartedly accepts it was not appropriate.”

The FA will now decide if Mudryk should be punished for the video which has been viewed over 214,000 times.

The FA have previously punished players for historic social media posts. Middlesbrough’s Marc Bola was punished recently over a tweet he posted when he was 14 years old.

Bola, then aged 24, was given a warning and ordered to complete an education course over a homophobic social media post.
