Chelsea are ready to offer Brighton a midfield swap that would see Conor Gallagher head to the south coast in part exchange for Moises Caicedo, it has been reported.
The Seagulls have been open to Caicedo’s departure this summer and are thought to be demanding around £80m for the Ecuador midfielder, who was also on the radar of Arsenal and Manchester United in recent months.
However, the Red Devils have prioritised a move for Chelsea’s own Mason Mount and Arsenal are aiming to complete a deal for Declan Rice, leaving the Blues with a largely free run at Caicedo barring any last minute moves from European giants.
In discussions over a potential move, Brighton suggested using Levi Colwill as a potential makeweight, with the defender having enjoyed a successful loan spell at the AMEX Stadium. Chelsea turned this down, however, and have since turned down two bids for the defender from the Seagulls, most recently a £40m offer for the potential soon-to-be England international.
The Blues are, however, keen to sanction a swap deal in a bid to keep the price low and Brighton are thought to be keen on Conor Gallagher, with 90 min reporting that they see the Englishman as a natural successor to Alexis Mac Allister, who joined Liverpool earlier in the summer.
It is added that the Seagulls ‘would be open to selling Caicedo to Chelsea with Gallagher used as a makeweight’ in a move that could prove beneficial to all parties, though Chelsea’s valuation of Gallagher at £40m may prove a little too steep.
