An update on the future of Barcelona star Ferran Torres has come to the fore online late on Saturday evening.
For those not aware, the subject of Torres’ prospects beyond the summer have long marked a major talking point amongst the Barcelona faithful.
This comes with many of a Blaugrana persuasion having already come to the conclusion that the Spanish international is not of the standard required to carve out a long-term future for himself at the Camp Nou.
Torres, of course, only made the move to Catalunya in January of last year, in a big-money move from Manchester City.
After impressing across his first half season in Barca colours, however, the 23-year-old’s production took a dip this past season, to the tune of seven goals and three assists in 45 appearances across all competitions.

With the likes of Raphinha, Ousmane Dembele, Ansu Fati and Robert Lewandowski to compete with, and Xavi Hernandez and co. expected to pursue further reinforcements in the attacking third with a view to next season, it has therefore been suggested that Torres could be sacrificed, in a bid to raise funds.
As per a report from Luis Rojo of Marca, the powers that be at the Camp Nou have no intention of parting with Torres this summer.
This comes with Xavi ‘counting’ on his fellow countryman for the 2023/24 campaign.
❗️Xavi is counting on Ferran Torres for next season. They will not sell him.
