Leicester City are set to make Victor Kristiansen their first January signing since 2018 in a £17m deal as they look to splash the cash in an attempt to stave off relegation this season.
The Foxes recruited only defender Wout Faes over the summer, and a mixture of woeful form and injuries have seen them have one of their worst starts to a Premier League season ever. A 2-0 defeat to fellow relegation candidates Nottingham Forest left them marooned in 15th place, just two points clear of the drop zone.
And, despite putting together a small run of form before the World Cup, which involved a 4-0 win over Forest in the reverse fixture, no side in the top flight have lost more games than Brendan Rodgers’ side, while their midlands derby defeat saw them generate just 0.8xG.
January, therefore, will be critical for the Foxes. Their first addition appears imminent too, with the Telegraph reporting that highly-rated fullback Victor Kristiansen is set to arrive ‘in the next 48 hours’ from FC Copenhagn.
He could even be registered for the clash with Brighton, with the registration deadline midday on Friday, and he is expected to slot in at fullback following injuries to James Justin and Ricardo Pereira.
Elsewhere, the King Power side are targetting a move for a central defender and a central midfielder, with Nico Gonzalez a potential midfield target.
It follows interest in his teammate Sofyan Amrabat after a stellar World Cup, though Fiorentina have closed the door to any potential sales.
