A new candidate has emerged as a legitimate contender to fill the managerial void at Premier League outfit Leeds United, according to reports.

The subject of the managerial hotseat at Elland Road has, of course, taken its place front and centre in the headlines across the week to date.

This comes after the hierarchy in west Yorkshire came to the decision – amid what has proven a difficult campaign to date – to send boss Jesse Marsch on his way.

Attentions, in turn, have since been pivoted towards finding a replacement, set to be tasked with staving off relegation over the 2nd half of the term.

To this point, such efforts have come up short, with the likes of Rayo Vallecano boss Andoni Iraola and West Bromwich Albion chief Carlos Corberan already understood to have rebuffed the advances of the Whites.

As alluded to above, though, late on Sunday, a new contender has emerged in the Leeds managerial sweepstakes.

The Dutchman, dismissed by Dutch heavyweights Ajax in January after eight months in charge, was in attendance at Elland Road this afternoon, as Leeds slipped to defeat at the hands of Manchester United.

This comes amid ongoing negotiations between the two parties regarding the possibility of joining forces.

‘Leeds are yet to officially decide on him as their new boss but Schreuder flew to England to be present at this afternoon’s game and talks with him are expected to continue this evening’, The Athletic have confirmed.
