In an amusing turn of events, an imminent transfer for a one-time member of the defensive ranks at Arsenal is set to open the door for north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur to seal a deal for chief January transfer target Pedro Porro.

The ex-Gunners star in question? Hector Bellerin.

Spanish international Bellerin, of course, saw his time on Arsenal’s books finally brought to an end last summer, when the powers that be at the Emirates opted against affording the 27-year-old a new contract, after ten years at the club.

Bellerin, in turn, went on to seal a return to his home country, putting pen to paper on terms with La Liga table-toppers Barcelona.

Safe to say, however, that the full-back’s Camp Nou return has since proven altogether underwhelming.

Bellerin, all told, has been afforded just seven appearances by Xavi Hernandez, including a paltry single league start.

As confirmed by a host of sources on Sunday evening, the four-time capped Spanish international is all set to link up with Portuguese giants Sporting CP, on loan.

And, as alluded to above, in the process, Bellerin will push another transfer over the line, too.

In a no doubt unintentional twist, the former Arsenal favourite’s arrival in Lisbon is set to open the door for Tottenham to finally put the finishing touches on a long-touted swoop for Sporting’s Pedro Porro.

The one-time Manchester City talent is potentially in line to be unveiled as a new Spurs player as early as Monday, in a deal expected to be worth a fee in the region of €45 million.
