Football fans have taken to social media in their droves to single out Spurs defender Emerson Royal during the first half of Tottenham’s 0-0 stalemate with Wolves at the London Stadium.

Tottenham came into the game as strong favourites but were firmly second best as Bruno Lage’s side welcomed new signings Matheus Nunes and Goncalo Guedes to their increasingly Portuguese-looking side.

And it was the away side that dominated for much of the first half, with Spurs looking tired and short on ideas in front of a restless home crowd. Such was Wolves’ dominance that Spurs’ first shot on target came in the 45th minute, when Harry Kane’s header was tipped onto the bar by Jose Sa.

And it is safe to say that, while much of the team was sub-par, there was one man that was particularly singled out of a bad crowd, as can be seen below.

Tottenham signed Djed Spence to cover the right wing-back position in the summer, but he has not yet been preferred to the Brazilian in the wide berth, with rumours that the Englishman could instead be loaned out in January.

Matt Doherty, meanwhile, continues to rehabilitate following an injury suffered against Aston Villa last season.
