Jamie Vardy has ended any speculation of him departing Leicester City this summer by penning a new contract with the midlands club, it has been announced.
The Englishman had been tentatively linked with Manchester United this summer as the Red Devils looked for forward reinforcement, but that has now been extinguished as the 35-year-old striker has agreed to a one-year extension with the Foxes.
The new deal will keep him at the King Power stadium until 2024, when the striker will be 37, continuing what has been a remarkable rise from lower league football.

Vardy needs 17 more goals to break into the top 10 all-time goalscorers, having netted 133 in the top flight, ahead of Robbie Keane, Romelu Lukaku and Nicolas Anelka.

Leicester’s problems mounting
Unlike Vardy, the future of several more Foxes remain unclear.
Wesley Fofana has asked to be left out of the side for Leicester City’s clash with Southampton at the King Power Stadium on Saturday, amid interest from Chelsea.

“The idea is that he is very much a Leicester player. He’s not for sale. Unless anything changes, I would expect him to be here”, Rodgers told the media.
“There’s nothing new from when we last spoke. We’ve spoken numerous times they are private conversations. Our communication is normal.”
Fofana is not the only one facing an uncertain future either, with Youri Tielemans also in the shop window amid interest from Arsenal. Tielemans is out of contract next summer, and therefore his value is only decreasing, meaning that a late move could be on the cards.
