Manchester City summer addition Julian Alvarez took full advantage of the opportunity to endear himself to the club’s fanbase on Saturday afternoon.
Pep Guardiola’s troops were of course back in action a short time ago, in the Community Shield.
As part of the traditional English season curtain-raiser, the Sky Blues, fresh off another Premier League triumph last time out, made the trip to the King Power Stadium.
Their opponents on the day? Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
City headed into proceedings in Leicester no doubt confident in their chances of securing some early season silverware, with star summer addition Erling Haaland leading the line, and Liverpool unable to call upon talismanic no.1 Alisson Becker.
And yet, when all was said and done, it was Liverpool who nevertheless emerged triumphant.

Salah’s crucial spot-kick came after Trent Alexander-Arnold had put Klopp and co. in front early on, only for City to pull level courtesy of the aforementioned Julian Alvarez.
After being introduced off the bench for his competitive debut in Sky Blues colours, the Argentine wasted little time in making his presence felt, capitalizing on an Adrian error to slot home from close range.
And, as alluded to above, Alvarez from here took the opportunity to endear himself to supporters of his new club.
This came as the 22-year-old, after wheeling away in celebration, was spotted emulating the famed celebration coined by compatriot and Citizens icon Sergio Aguero:
