French giants Paris Saint-Germain will be hopeful of avoiding a potential hammer blow to their Champions League aspirations tonight after club star Kylian Mbappé was forced off injured against Montpellier in PSG’s Ligue 1 clash against Montpellier.

Mbappé, who appears to have suffered a hamstring injury according to ESPN’s Julien Laurens, had just missed two penalties against La Paillade at Stade de la Mosson in a critical league clash for the Parisians on the back of poor domestic form that has seen them secure just two wins in the league (2-1-2) since football returned across Europe after the conclusion of the 2022 World Cup.

Ever in the hunt for European honors, the club was looking to once again push on the continent on the back of a dazzling front three featuring Mbappé alongside Lionel Messi and Neymar and is less than two weeks away from a titanic European clash with Bayern Munich in the round of 16 of the Champions League, with the first leg set for Wednesday 14 February at Parc des Princes.

The 23-year-old French star is the joint top-scorer in the competition this season, level with Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah on 7 goals coming into the knockout stage, and if this latest setback is set to keep him out of contention against Julian Nagelsmann’s Bundesliga-topping Bavarians, PSG could certainly be up against it if they are to avoid another disappointing continental campaign.
