Fulham defender Issa Diop has been arrested in France over allegations of death threats that he sent to his wife during a family holiday to Senegal.
French reports claimed that the 26-year-old was arrested at the Pullman hotel in Toulouse on Sunday evening after his wife filed the complaint last week.
They add that ‘Issa Diop has already acknowledged some of the facts, stating that his words and threats were not serious’.
The complaint was filed last week, but French police were forced to wait until Diop, who usually lives in London, returned to France before they could make the arrest.
A Fulham spokesperson told the Athletic: “We are aware of reports emanating from France this morning regarding one of our players, Issa Diop. We are currently liaising with the player’s representatives to establish the facts.”
Diop made 25 Premier League appearances last season for Marco Silva’s side, and looked set to step up next season amid rumours that Tosin Aderabayo could be on his way out of Craven Cottage.
