Overachieving Fulham has struggled out of the gates in the 2023-24 Premier League campaign after unexpectedly finishing in the top half last term under former Everton boss Marco Silva.
But despite an opening weekend win against the Toffees, Fulham have hardly performed in a manner that would give them a platform for a repeat season. A 1-0 affair on matchday one masks how many chances the club gave up against a poor Everton outfit (who currently sit bottom), and that trend continued when they were comprehensively thrashed 3-0 by Brentford last time out.
It can be argued that the club has regressed in terms of on-pitch quality, and the likely departure of Aleksandar Mitrović, and possibly Willian as well, means a reduction in the forward line if they lose two of their key attacking performers from 2022-23. Given their defensive struggles thus far, the Cottagers will hopefully avoid another drubbing at the hands of better opposition.

Predicted XI
Team News
Marco Silva has just two selection concerns this weekend as the Cottagers face the tough task of going across the capital to the Emirates.
Key center-back Tim Ream is unavailable after being sent off against Brentford, while star striker Aleksandar Mitrović is likely unavailable even if he passes a late fitness test given his insistence on wanting to move to Saudi Arabia before the closing of the summer transfer window.
João Palhinha, who came off the bench last weekend, could pass fit for service and find his way back in the XI given the opposition at hand. Apart from that, Calvin Bassey is likely to make his full debut given Ream’s one-match suspension.
