Manchester City are once again exploring a deal for Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney this summer, as they look to bolster their ranks once more.
Pep Guardiola’s side are closing in on their fifth Premier League title in six years after thrashing the Gunners 4-1 at the Etihad on Wednesday evening, leaving them two points behind Arsenal but with two games in hand on Mikel Arteta’s side.
But they remain in need of reinforcements, especially in defence, with Joao Cancelo having been sent away on loan to Bayern Munich and not looking likely to have a future under Guardiola.
It has left Nathan Ake playing at left-back, a position in which he has excelled, but without a real alternative to the Dutchman in the City squad.
With Guardiola keen to strengthen, football insider revealed that the Spaniard has identified out-of-favour defender Kieran Tierney as a potential target, with the Scot having been playing second fiddle to former Manchester City man Oleksandr Zinchenko this season.
Tierney has managed just 5 Premier League starts for Arteta’s side this season, and it widely expected that he will be allowed to move on, with Newcastle United among the potential suitors for the Scot.
Any funds would be welcome in north London, with plans to strengthen in midfield this summer amid links with Declan Rice, Moises Caicedo and Mason Mount having emerged in recent months.
As a result, it is reported that the Gunners are ‘prepared to listen to offers’ for Tierney, as well as midfield general Granit Xhaka and even high-flying loanee Folarin Balogun, should the right bids be made.
