Nottingham Forest are looking to beat West Ham to the signing of Watford striker Emmanuel Dennis this summer, and have tabled an opening offer for the Nigerian forward.

Forest looked toothless in their first Premier League game of the 21st century, falling to a 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United on the opening day of the season despite having made an entire XI of new signings this summer.

Now, they are looking to add two more before the end of the week, beginning with the Watford man.

Dennis was impressive last season despite the Hornets ultimately failing to remain in the Premier League come the end of the campaign, netting 10 times and grabbing a further 6 assists in 33 top-flight outings.

And, as per the Athletic, Forest have now come calling for the forward.

‘The exact structure of the proposed transfer is unclear but the total fee inclusive of add-ons is understood to be in the region of £ 20 million ($24.4m)’, they report.

Freuler to join

Meanwhile, Atalanta midfielder Remo Freuler is set to join Forest in a deal worth around 9m euros, with the 30-year-old Swiss midfielder in Nottingham for a medical on Thursday as he puts the finishing touches on his move to the midlands from Bergamo.

He will become the thirteenth addition to Steve Cooper’s side, while Dennis could well be no.14 through the door. While they will certainly all need time to gel together, it has been a fascinating summer for the club.
