Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has admitted that current bids for Wesley Fofana have come ‘nowhere near’ the Foxes’ valuation of the defender as of yet, with Chelsea keen to add the centre-back to their ranks before the end of the transfer window.

21-year-old centre-back Fofana is the subject of significant interest from the Blues, with Thomas Tuchel’s defensive plans currently in disarray having missed out on moves for Nathan Ake, Matthijs de Ligt, Presnel Kimpembe and Jules Kounde this summer.

They have so far seen two bids turned down for the Frenchman, and are expected to return with a third one, with Fofana himself reportedly keen on making the move. The defender walked straight down the tunnel following the 2-2 opening day draw with Brentford, and has removed all reference to Leicester City on his social media accounts.

Rodgers was quizzed on the situation, and was quick to point out that the current offers were well below asking price.

“There was two [bids], but nowhere near what the club would consider”, he explained. “We’re not looking to sell. Naturally if there’s interest from other clubs, that is looked at by the club. He’s a top young defender and there are not too many around his age.”

“Another year for him at least would be really important for his development. Wesley is quite calm on the situation. He is aware of the interest. He’s just getting on with his work.”
