Graham Potter believes that he deserves time to turn things around at Chelsea.

The former Brighton boss has had a very tricky last few months at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have lost four of their last six league matches and have exited both domestic cup competitions.

They have also dropped into 10th place and are now the lowest scorers in the Premier League’s top half.

Potter: “You have to look at my colleagues in a similar position…”

Potter has pointed to the first seasons that Pep Guardiola, Mikel Arteta and Jürgen Klopp had at their respective clubs.

All three had very challenging starts to life at their current clubs but have all since gone on to be successful.

Potter explained: “You have to understand it’s part of the job.

“You have to look at my colleagues in a similar position, Pep was criticised in his first season, Mikel [Arteta], and Jürgen Klopp in his early seasons.

“Football is emotional and when you lose you don’t think about it, you feel it: the pain, discomfort.

“Sometimes it’s hard to understand the why and it’s easier to blame somebody.

“I’m not saying I’ve been perfect but it’s always very complex.

“You try to put it into perspective and remember I am capable.

“The results haven’t been good enough for us and you have to respect and deal with that.”
