French giants and Champions League hopeful Paris Saint-Germain have received a massive blow to their chances of making another deep run on the continent after reports have detailed star forward Neymar looks set to miss the rest of the 2022-23 season.
The 31-year-old Brazilian was taken off early during the Parisian’s late 4-3 win against LOSC Lille back on 19 February, with BBC Sports among other major outlets reporting that the key man is set to undergo ankle surgery to “avoid a major risk of recurrence” surrounding a recurring issue that has caused “instances of instability in his right ankle” for a number of years.
After completing the operation, PSG expects Neymar to not return to training for three or four months. At best, the Brazilian veteran and former wonderkid would not return until late May or early June. But with the final round of Ligue 1 fixtures coming on the 3rd of the month, unless his recovery process exceeds expectations, the French champions will have to make do without his services until next season.
