Harry Kane has sent yet another top-flight record this season following his latest excellent goal for Tottenham in the first half of their clash with Brentford.

The Lilywhites played host to the Bees on Saturday lunchtime, with both needing a win and three points to improve their chances of landing a European spot next season. In what has been a disappointing campaign, a win for Ryan Mason’s side would lift them to fifth place, though Brighton below them would have two games in hand.

More importantly, it will keep them in the hunt for a Europa League spot, though their fortunes do appear to rest on the Seagulls.

And, as usual, it was Harry Kane that stepped up to save the day, curling in an excellent effort after a free-kick layoff from Dejan Kulusevski to open the scoring against Brentford, and put his side on course for three points in their final home game of the season.

It was his 28th Premier League goal of the season, behind only Erling Haaland in the Premier League goalscoring charts, and took him to 211 goals in the competition as he chases down Alan Shearer’s record of 260.

But he also managed another record, with his goal making it 25 different Premier League games that he has scored in this season. That is more than any other player has ever managed in the history of the Premier League, overtaking Mohamed Salah (24) and he could yet extend that if he finds the back of the net against Leeds United on the final day of the season.
