Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele could leave for as little as £43.5m this summer, with his new contract signed with the Camp Nou ahead of the new season containing a release clause set at 50m euros, to be activated in summer 2023.
Contract negotiations dragged on for months between the French winger and the Catalan giants, with both sides keen to keep him at Barcelona but Dembele not satisfied with the conditions offered in new contract discussions, leading to speculation that he could seek a way out with Chelsea and Paris Saint Germain both hovering.
Eventually, however, the parties agreed on a two year contract extension in order to prevent the Frenchman from leaving on a free transfer.

However, there is the possibility that Dembele, who has registered two goals and two assists in six La Liga games so far this season, could leave for just 50m euros next summer due to a release clause that was agreed to.
Worse still, Barcelona themselves could only receive half of that, with the other half heading into the pockets of Dembele and his representatives.
That is according to French outlet L’Equipe, who claim that “the French international did not receive a signing bonus by extending to FC Barcelona. As its representatives conceded not to receive commissions… all the parties have agreed on a release clause estimated at €50 million valid next summer. If this clause is activated by a club, 50% of the sum will then go to Ousmane Dembélé and his representatives.”
