Arsenal have a situation where many of their top players are nearing the end of their contracts.
The Gunners are currently in talks with several first-team players over new deals.
One player who is discussing a new contract is William Saliba and here’s why no breakthrough in talks has yet been made…
Why Saliba hasn’t signed new Arsenal contract

Saliba’s current deal with Arsenal runs until 2024.
That means that in the summer, the Frenchman will be entering the final year of his contract at the Emirates.
Arsenal, of course, want to avoid this scenario and are trying to tie him down to a long-term deal.
The Gunners’ wage offer is not in line with the length contract that they are offering the defender, according to the Athletic.
For young players, a contract is not so much about the length, but more about the size of the wages and for a club to get them to commit for longer that will usually require them to offer bigger wages
In the case of Saliba, he does not want to commit to the length of the deal, on the size wages, that Arsenal are currently offering him.
Therefore, talks remain ongoing to reach a compromise over how much the Frenchman should earn on such a long-term deal.
Given just how good he has been this season, it feels very likely that Arsenal will compromise and get the deal done.
