Manchester United have tabled an outrageous loan offer for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat in the last 24 hours as they look to beef up their midfield ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.
The midfielder has long been on United’s wishlist, and is yet to play for La Viola this season as he looks to push through a move away from the club by Friday evening. Previously valued in excess of 35m euros, the 27-year-old had reportedly seen his price slashed to just 21m euros amid interest from Erik ten Hag’s side and Premier League rivals Liverpool.
However, the Red Devils tabled an opening loan offer for the midfielder, a method which Fiorentina would be happy to accept provided that it contained an obligation to buy the player at the end of the spell (a relatively common occurence in Italy).

The details of the deal as revealed by the Athletic, however, show just how insulting the opening offer for Amrabat was.
The loan deal on offer was set at 2m euros (£1.7m) for the season, but payable in 2 installments of £850,000, while the deal also had a break clause in between the two installments. In essence, it would mean that United could return Amrabat in January without paying the second installment, which would see Fiorentina set to receive just £850,000 guaranteed.
Worse still, Amrabat is out of contract in 2024 as things stand, and the deal would therefore leave the Moroccan highly likely to leave for free at the end of his loan spell.
