The English Football Association continues its campaign to crack down on illegal betting by members of the player association after Nottingham Forest defender Harry Toffolo received a five-month bad and after admitting to breaching betting regulations.
The 28-year-old left-back admitted to breaching regulations on 375 occasions across a three-year period during his stint with Norwich City but has had his five-month ban suspended until the end of the 2024-25 Premier League season while also being slapped with a ~£21k fine.

As such, Toffolo, unlike Brentford star striker Ivan Toney who is currently serving his own suspension after breaching betting regulations on 230 occasions, will not have to immediately spend time away from football should he adhere to the terms of his sentencing.
Per the Guardian’s Ben Fisher, “In July the Football Association charged Toffolo with breaching betting regulations on 375 occasions, across a three-year period while contracted to Norwich. Toffolo was found to be in breach of FA rule E8, which prohibits players from betting on games, asking others to do so on their behalf, or sharing privileged information for betting purposes.”
“The FA takes each case on its own individual merits. They said the written reasons for the decisions “will be published in due course”. Forest has declined to comment on Toffolo’s sanction.”
