Brazilian striker Richarlison has revealed that Everton’s ‘lack of ambition’ was the reason that he chose to leave Goodison Park this summer, after completing a £60m move to Tottenham.
Richarlison helped the Toffees stay in the Premier League last campaign, grabbing 10 goals to ensure their top-flight survival on the penultimate day of the season, and in truth the 25-year-old looked a cut above his teammates for much of the season, especially with strike partner Dominic Calvert-Lewin injured.

And he has explained that, though he loved his time at Everton, it was the lack of ambition under Frank Lampard that ultimately forced him to seek a move away.
“It’s always a tough call when you have such strong connections with your club, and that was definitely the case for me”, he told FourFourTwo.
“I was happy at Everton and I’m grateful for everything I learned there. It’s a big club with a lot of history”
“However, perhaps they’re suffering with a lack of ambition nowadays. You know, that eagerness to win matches and trophies. I spent four years there and I could see there was still a very long way to go to achieve big things.
The Brazilian was subject to late interest from Chelsea but opted not to make the switch to Stamford Bridge, choosing instead to honour his agreement with Antonio Conte’s side.
And Richarlison opened his Tottenham account in their Champions League group opener, netting a brace against French side Olympique Marseille, but could not prevent his side from falling to a defeat by the same scoreline against Sporting Lisbon a week later.
