Chelsea are ready to continue their spending under new owner Todd Boehly this summer as they look to rival Liverpool for Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes.
The Blues are looking to strengthen in midfield, with interest in Moises Caicedo from Brighton and Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez having dogged the club all winter even as they strengthen in other areas.
As it stands, both N’Golo Kante and Jorginho are out of contract this summer, leaving only Matteo Kovacic and Conor Gallagher as senior options in the Blues engine room, though Carney Chukwuemeka has impressed in limited outings and there are high hopes for Cesare Casadei, who joined from Inter Milan in the summer.
Nonetheless, they remain in the market for additions, and are set to go head-to-head with Liverpool for new signings, with the Reds also in desperate need of midfield reinforcements.

As a result, the Telegraph report that the pair of clubs are ready to do battle over Nunes, with both “set to be in the race for him at the end of the season when he comes on the market after just one campaign at Molineux.”
Any move for the Wolves man would likely come at a premium, with the Portuguese midfielder under contract until 2027, while he joined Wolves for a reported 45m euros just last summer, and has started 14 Premier League games this season.
