Manchester United are ‘confident’ of luring Harry Kane to Old Trafford this summer, but may have to rely on Liverpool for a helping hand, it has been revealed.
Kane, who sits second in the Premier League goalscoring charts, has long been linked with a move away from north London, and the 29-year-old will be in the final year of his contract come this summer, though there are murmurings of an extension in the works.
That uncertainty, added to the uncertainty of Tottenham’s manager beyond the end of the season, has left Erik ten Hag and Manchester United a window of opportunity. The Red Devils are in desperate need of a striker, and are expected to spend a hefty amount on one this summer.
And, as per the Sun, ‘United’s representatives have contacted Kane’s camp via a third party and are buoyed by the response’, perhaps opening the door to a switch this summer.
To make any transfer feasible, however, the Red Devils may need a helping hand from arch rivals Liverpool, who beat them 7-0 over the weekend.
Now firmly in the hunt for a top 4 finish after a dire start to the campaign, Jurgen Klopp’s side could pip Tottenham and Newcastle to the final Champions League spot, and will move up to fourth should they win their game in hand on Antonio Conte’s side.
