Liverpool saw off Leicester City on Thursday evening.
The Reds had a dreadful first 45 vs the Foxes, but still went in at the break 2-1 up thanks to two own goals and were able to maintain that lead for the rest of the 90.
Following the game, Virgil van Dijk has been discussing Liverpool new boy, Cody Gakpo.
Gakpo joined Liverpool from PSV on the back of an impressive World Cup and a superb start to the 2022/23 Eredivisie season.
As a result, a lot of pressure is already on Gakpo to impress in a struggling Liverpool team.
But when speaking post-Leicester, Virgil van Dijk insisted he needs time to settle and adapt:
“We have to give him time, I’m very sure the Liverpool fans will give it time, we’re family and the real ones will always back him. He has to keep his head down, no matter what happens, fight, enjoy the moment and be important for the football club.”
