Chelsea agreed to sign former Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia for £60m this summer.
The Belgian took Chelsea’s spending under Todd Boehly to over £900m and he was expected to link up with Enzo Fernandes and Moises Caicedo in what is the most expensive midfield in the world.
However, Lavia is yet to make an appearance or even make the matchday squad for Chelsea, instead watching on from the stands last weekend.
Lavia did not link up with Belgium for the international break so Chelsea fans were no doubt hoping this would give the youngster time to embed himself into the squad and gain some fitness.
Now though, it looks as though we will have to wait some time to see Lavia in a Chelsea shirt.
Chelsea fear Romeo Lavia will be sidelined for an extended period after the midfielder’s suspected ankle injury was assessed on Friday.
