Wolves and Bruno Lage have been dealt a major blow as they look to prepare for the new season as it has emerged that star man Raul Jimenez is set to miss at least four weeks, and perhaps as many as eight, with the Mexican having picked up a knee injury.
Jimenez, who appeared 34 times for Wolves last campaign, picked up the injury during his side’s pre-season clash with Turkish outfit Besiktas, which he scored in as they won 3-0.

However, in a medical update, the club subsequently confirmed that their star man had picked up an issue, revealing that “Raul came off in the game against Besiktas after he stretched for the ball and felt something in his knee and his groin. Scans reveal that he has suffered a medial collateral ligament injury to his knee and a minor strain of his adductor”.

Jimenez out for between four and eight weeks
And, according to the Telegraph, this injury will keep Jimenez out for a minimum of four weeks, while he could remain sidelined for up to two months, which would see him out of action until after the September international break.
“Wolves are still assessing the results of scans but initial concerns are that Jimenez, who was last season’s joint leading scorer, is likely to miss the first eight Premier League games of the new campaign”, they report.
It leaves Bruno Lage without a recognised striker in his side, although Hwang Hee-Chan and Pedro Neto have both been utilised there in pre-season. Wolves are expected to sign another forward before the transfer deadline, but it is unclear how much they can afford to spend with Adama Traore, Ruben Neves and Pedro Neto yet to receive the approaches expected.
