Wolverhampton Wanderers are in talks to sign Stuttgart forward Sasa Kalajdzic this summer as they look to bolster their frontline options, having scored just once in their opening three Premier League games.

The Molineux side have already added Goncalo Guedes and Matheus Nunes in the last month, while they also signed central defender Nathan Collins from Burnley earlier in the summer.

However, they are struggling at the top of the pitch, having generated the 4th lowest expected goals and having scored the joint-fewest goals in the division (along with Manchester United).

Raul Jimenez returned against Tottenham after a pre-season injury, but they remain light in the striker position, with winger Daniel Podence leading the line against the Lilywhites.

And, as per Sky Germany, the Molineux side have turned their attention to Kalajdzic, who has scored 22 times in his 51 Bundesliga outings thus far. At 6ft5, he is very much a central striker, but so far no agreement has been reached, with the German side holding out for 25m euros.

“The two clubs”, adds David Ornstein ”are some distance apart on price as it stands”. However, should a central striker arrive, it would allow both Daniel Podence and Goncalo Guedes to return to their more natural wide berths.

Knock on for Neto?

News broke on Monday that Neto was the club’s top target should Nicolas Pepe, as expected, depart for OGC Nice on loan this summer.

“Talks are said to have been taking place for more than a month and central to the dialogue is the intermediary Jorge Mendes, who represents Neto”, the Athletic added.

It is reported that Wolves are holding out for £50m to sell their young talent, who is under contract until 2027, with Arsenal presently only willing to offer £35m.

Should the midlands side be able to add another forward to their ranks, however, their stance on selling the Portuguese youngster could shift. At present, Podence, Guedes, Hwang Hee-Chan and Adama Traore are all options to play in the wide areas should none of them be required to play as a striker, something that Kalajdzic’s arrival would prevent.
