Manchester United took on Brentford in Saturday’s late Premier League kick-off.
After losing to Brighton at Old Trafford – the first time that has happened in the club’s history – United were no doubt keen to bounce back vs the Bees.
That most certainly did not happen, however. Vs Brentford, Manchester United were a complete shambles.
David de Gea, in particular, had a nightmare and was the main reason Brentford scored at least three of their four goals on the day.
That drubbing saw Manchester United end a day bottom of the Premier League for the first time since August 1992. Erik ten Hag also became the first United manager to lose his opening two outings as boss.
Now, it has been revealed that there was a major argument at United’s training complex, Carrington, days before the loss to Thomas Frank and co.
It is added that cliques still exist in a squad that remains a discordant environment after two disastrous defeats by Brighton and Brentford and certain United players eager to leave are still stuck at the club,
United’s situation sounds very similar to the one Arsenal found themselves in several years back.
However, Mikel Arteta has since moved on all the dead weight and has built a very promising squad.
Whether or not United are able to do something similar remains to be seen, but it took the Gunners a good few years to wean out all the negative players, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang seemingly the final domino to fall earlier this year.
