Tottenham managerial target Luis Enrique has seemingly ruled himself out of a move to north London this summer, admitting that he doesn’t see himself in the Premier League this summer despite a move to the English top flight a longer-term ambition of his.
Spurs are on the hunt for their third permanent manager in two years after they parted ways with Antonio Conte on Sunday evening, leaving his assistant coach Christian Stellini and former Spurs midfielder Ryan Mason in caretaker charge until the end of the season.
And plenty of names have been linked with the vacancy in north London, with Julien Nagelsmann reportedly a target after being fired by Bayern Munich last week and replaced by fellow Tottenham target Thomas Tuchel.
Another manager in contention was former Spain boss Luis Enrique, who left his role in charge of the national team after a disappointing defeat to Morocco in the World Cup last 16.
However, the ex-Barcelona man has seemingly ruled himself out of the running for the job, suggesting that he would be very picky about his next team and would need them to be able to challenge for silverware, something that Tottenham have not managed to do with any great regularity since the early 2000s.
“I would like to go to England to work”, Enrique told Spanish media.
It remains unclear whether Daniel Levy is desperate to appoint a new manager in the final ten games of the season, or will wait until the summer when pickings are likely to be richer, amid rumours that Nagelsmann is set to take stock of his position at the end of the season rather than be rushed into any decisions.
