An insight into the windfall set to come the way of Spanish giants Barcelona in the case of Lionel Messi clinching glory at the World Cup with Argentina has been provided on Thursday.
Messi’s Albiceleste, of course, are currently in the process of preparing for their biggest game in some time.
The clash in question is set to play out on Sunday, when Lionel Scaloni’s troops go head to head with France in the finale of the Qatar World Cup.
Argentina’s passage to the showpiece clash was secured on Tuesday, when a semi-final showdown with Croatia culminated in an altogether one-sided 3-0 final scoreline.
All associated with the South American champions are therefore no doubt confident in the nation’s chances of going all the way, courtesy of a sixth straight tournament victory.

As alluded to above, though, should he ultimately go on to lead his country beyond France, then Argentina will not be the only ones to benefit from Messi’s brilliance.
As per a report from Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, as agreed in the terms of a deal with the European Club Association, FIFA must pay clubs $10,000-per-day for the release of each player to the World Cup.
This sum, though, is to be divided between any clubs for whom the player in question has lined out since August of 2020.
With Messi, of course, having spent the 2020/21 season plying his trade in Catalunya, Barcelona, as a result, will be owed over €117,000 in the case of the veteran attacker’s eventual triumph on football’s grandest stage.
The total sum coming the way of the Blaugrana by way of FIFA is even more noteworthy, with former members of the club’s payroll allegedly set to earn the La Liga heavyweights a cool €3.88 million in World Cup-based payouts.
Barcelona will earn €117,216 if Leo Messi wins the World Cup.
